High-Five for 5 Years at Rillito Park! 5 Year Anniversary Celebration
High-five for 5! We’re bringing the party to the Rillito Park Farmers Market (4502 N. 1st Ave.) on Sunday, November 3rd from 9am to 1pm. Voted Tucson’s best farmer’s market of 2019 in both the Tucson Weekly and the Arizona Daily Star. We’re celebrating our 5 year anniversary under the Rillito Park’ pavilions with a featured chef demo from Chef Ryan Clark of Casino del Sol and live music from Michael P. & the Gullywashers to anchor the good food and good vibes. Plus, we’ll have a special scavenger hunt for kid’s of all ages!
Five years ago, HeirloomFM partnered with Pima County to open Tucson’s first permanent farmers market pavilion at Rillito Park. Designed to be a pillar destination for the community, the pavilion showcases the bounty of food in the region and has dramatically enhanced the economic vitality of Tucson’s local food system. Heirloom Farmers Markets has been serving Baja Arizona for more than 18 years, and operates the largest farmers market system in Southern Arizona. Heirloom’s Sunday market gained notoriety at St. Philip’s Plaza and has continued to grow since moving to the Rillito Park Food Pavilion location in November of 2014. More than 80 vendors and 1,800 weekly shoppers currently participate in the Sunday market with numbers steadily climbing each season.
As part of Heirloom Farmers Markets mission to support a sustainable food system in Southern Arizona, we support supplemental nutrition programs, SNAP/EBT & WIC, at the market as to offer access to fresh healthy local foods to all types of communities. The dollars spent from these programs directly impact our local farmers, ranchers, and producers all year-round at the markets. To redeem or learn more about these programs please visit the market info booth.
In effort to support a healthy SNAP and WIC community at the Sunday Rillito Park Farmers Market we now offer educational programming about seasonal produce, meal planning, shopping the market, and cooking:
- Market Ambassador – Look for our Ambassador, in the bright orange apron to assist you in shopping the market. Sponsored by the Rillito Park Foundation.
- Taste of the Market (TotM) – Visit the bright orange TotM booth for a weekly helping of food literacy and education. Sponsored by Arizona Complete Health.
As always, THANK YOU to our farmers, vendors, customers, and community partners for supporting Rillito Park Farmers Market. We couldn’t have done it without you! Cheers!
