It’s Mom’s Day… Eat Your Veggies!
Sunday is Mom’s Day, a universal celebration of what moms do for us all.
On Friday morning at Trail Dust Town (Home of Pinnacle Peak), make a day with mom and bring the kids to the launch of First Friday Family Fun Day! Ride the train or the carousel, sample and give the gift of a bottle of olive oil from Sky Island Olive Oil to go over those fresh tomatoes and Pappardelle’s Pasta from the market.
On Saturday, let mom sleep late and take the kids to the Oro Valley farmers’ market at Steam Pump Ranch. At the Oro Valley market you will find both interesting and fun gift ideas that I am sure any mom will love. Check out Cactus Rose Floral for some beautiful garden blooms. While strolling the market, you can pick up all the necessary ingredients for your Mom’s Day breakfast like farm fresh eggs, grass-fed ranch bacon, sweet cinnamon rolls and savory breads from Breadsmith, and of course the freshest local fruits and vegetables from our awesome farmers!
On Sunday, take a Mother’s Day stroll at the farmers’ market at Rillito Park to prep for your Mom’s Day cookout. If you want to give her the night off, our ranchers offer a wide variety of brats, roasts, steaks and salmon for your grill. If your mom has a garden, a few varieties of starter vegetable plants and seeds will gear her for summer growing. And, if you get to the market early, you may find a few garden fresh flowers that I am sure your mom will love.
What could be better than fresh, local, good-for-you food to celebrate your mom on her special day? After all, she always said, “Eat your veggies.” Now you can say, “Yes, mom–and I picked them out myself at the farmers’ market!” She will be so proud.
